Artefacting’s new mission; Willets Point - an Iron Triangle Urban Renewal mission is a 6 week project in Willets Point, also known as the Iron Triangle; New York City’s cheap autoparts centre in Queens NY. It’s culminating community celebration, Willets Point Champions took place on October 29 & 30.

A sad update on the ongoing demolitions in Dharavi’s industrious 13th Compound, the centre of activity of Artefacting Mumbai’s three month project last winter.
From August 11-September 23 2011, the Artefacting team is collaborating with Tyree Guyton, founder and artistic director of the renowned Detroit based Heidelberg Project, an open-air art environment in the heart of Detroit’s East Side. For 6 weeks, the Artefacting team is operating out of the Number House on Heidelberg Street from where they’ll reach out to neighboring communities to document and through public art engage the social pearls of an urban catastrophe following the aftermath of the Motor City.
Artefacting Mumbai’s IMMERSION exhibition will have it’s first ever showing in Portland, Oregon at Mercy Corps’ Action Center Gallery. Exhibition runs from August 23rd through September 25th.
Paintings, photos, and video from Artefacting three month inaugural project in Dharavi, Mumbai will all be on display.
The politicians of the Skedsmo regional municipality have been delighted by the Artist & children’s workshop creations. So all of the sculptures have been moved from the public spaces over to the Skedsmo Municipality where they will be on exhibition and under protection from Norway’s unpredictable climate :)
